Norway At a Glance

  • Norway is a country of great natural beauty. It contains mountains, glaciers, islands, fjords and forests.
  • Families are typically small and spend a lot of time together.
  • Outdoor recreation like skiing, snowboarding, ice-skating, hockey, hiking and backpacking is popular.
  • Many people place a high value on globalism and personal growth.
  • Meat cakes, potato dumplings, and different types of fish are common in Norwegian cuisine.
  • Did you know people in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway can all understand each others’ languages? Though they all speak their own native tongue, the languages are mutually intelligible. This means if you learn Norwegian, you can speak to Danes and Swedes as well!
